About us

Our Vision

Orion’s ancient meaning is ‘dawning’ or ‘rising in the sky’ and our aim is to help every learner develop the confidence and skills to truly shine and achieve their potential, both in school and later life.

We believe a growth mindset is absolutely key to learning success. By acting as mentors as well as teachers, we help children reflect on their learning and empower them to become their own motivators on their path to success.

What is a growth mindset?

Adopting a growth mindset means believing that intelligence and achievement are not fixed based on what you’re born with; they are grown and nurtured depending on how much effort you put in.

Developing a growth mindset makes you resilient when facing challenges. It is also key to developing a lifelong love of learning and a never-ending spring of self-motivation.

This is why at Orion Education we place such a large emphasis on metacognition and helping each pupil understand how they learn and how their brain works. Learning is a process and being aware of where you are in that process and what you need to do to achieve helps set you up to succeed. Our brains are all unique and an awareness of your own particular preferences, strengths and challenges helps you overcome barriers to success.

Learning a new skill forges a new neural pathway, creating new connections in your brain. The more times that skill is built on, the more confident you become with that area and the more rapid your recall is. Practice really does make perfect!
